Client was exiting the highway when a vehicle drove the wrong way onto the exit ramp and crashed head-on into our clients vehicle. The at fault driver claimed she was not responsible for the crash because she was “following google maps” which told her to drive onto the exit ramp. We filed a lawsuit, and her lawyer again refused to accept responsibility for the accident, despite the at fault driver being charge day the police for driving the wrong way on an exit ramp.
When we presented the case to the jury, I played a video of the at fault driver refusing to take responsibility, blaming google maps, and accusing my client of faking her broken wrist injury. I played a video of my client’s surgeon describing the extent of the injury, the screws and plates that were placed into her wrist during surgery, and what her future would look like with that injury. I told the jury that the Defendant was refusing to take responsibility for a crash that was obviously her fault, and that the jury needed to deter this kind of behavior by awarding money to my client.
I showed the jury pictures of the crash, including bloody photos from inside the vehicle, and photos of my client at the hospital before and after surgery. The jury deliberated for a couple of hours and returned a verdict of $203,757.09 including costs and interest. The initial offer on the case was only $42,000.
